Welcome to Southeastern Peer Support

Peer support now available in southeastern Manitoba

The right support can help in your mental health.

When I was first walking my mental health journey through multiple systems and jurisdictions, I felt and was completely alone and didn't even know where to go or who to talk to for help. That's why, when peer support became a new resource in mental health, I jumped in to use it. Then, opportunity arose to learn the practice of it and offer it. I became a Certified Peer Supporter, and am opening Southeastern Peer Support, to help others not feel so alone and for them to have help in navigating their mental health.

For when you need to talk

Confidential conversation with multiple benefit potentials

Support is a conversation away

Peer Support is a mutually confidential and beneficial conversation where your self-determination is key. It is unbiased and without judgment and can provide a range of experiences from validation to advocacy. It can be a resource exploration and teamwork toward your goals. Peer support isn't advice or agenda based, and works to re-light the spark of your power. You make the call.

Peer support sees many beneficial potentials for each peer,
with each interaction and experience being distinct.

  • From empowerment to emotional support,
  • from social connection to shared knowledge and experience,
  • from increased self esteem to a reduction in stigma and self stigma,
  • from improving your coping skills to enhancing outcomes from other treatment methods like your clinical experience potentials with a therapist, counselor or even your psychiatrist.

The conversation is up to you. Those are just a few potential examples of benefits of peer support.

other benefits of peer support with Southeastern Peer Support

A benefit available to you as peer of Southeastern Peer Support is the training and values of our Certified Peer Supporter. Each Certified Peer Supporter is required to also have core competencies as a fundamental of their belief system and mode of operation. Each conversation and interaction with our certified peer supporter is confidential, and completed within a strict code of conduct and ethics.
